I Love Rock n Roll Guitar Riff
Introduction
Teach
When Andy bought his first electric guitar, with a little practice amp that had an option to use distortion, the intro riff for I Love Rock‘n Roll by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts became the first warm up piece he would play before delving into something new. Why though?
He tells me it was because he thought it made him sound cool with it’s overdriven sound, big power chords and little bendy string bits linking the chords together.
The whole riff is based around E, A and B power chords and it one of the most recognisable riffs of all time….and one that is not too challenging to play. It doesn’t matter if you use an electric or acoustic, it will still sound “full and masterful” once you have nailed it. And it is bloomin’ fun to play.
Over to you…
