Easy Improvisation & Soloing: The Eminor Pentatonic

Easy Improvisation

Let’s be honest, most of you must have had some dream about being on stage and improvising a guitar solo at the lead singer’s request and launching into an amazing medley of notes, melodies, riffs and tricks that will have the audience drooling for more; only to think, “I’ll never be able to do that!!!”

Well, hopefully, we can put that myth to bed and provide you with a practical insight into how you can start to learn the art of solo improvisation. We agree, it will take time to become a master, but have look at Andy’s video and you will be amazed how much you will learn in a matter of minutes.

This is just the beginning, and Andy is going to show you the E minor pentatonic scale in 2 positions on the fretboard so you can jam over our backing track, using the notes of the scale, to create your own solo……….without thinking about it.

Now, as you progress, you will need to understand what sales and notes can go with what chord progressions, but for now, your only requirement is that you can play the notes in the E minor pentatonic scale (E, G, A, B, D) over an E chord riff based on Roadhouse Blues by The Doors. You can even play the same notes over any 12 bar blues in the key of E i.e. with the chords E, A and B.

There are a couple of tabbed riffs that Andy will teach you to get your creative juices going – if you enjoy this, check out our Easy Soloing Special edition.

Anyway, less reading and writing and more playing. Enjoy your first steps to rock stardom.
