Boys Don’t Cry By The Cure. Guitar Riff.

Pickup'n'Play

Boys Don’t Cry By The Cure.

“Boys Don’t Cry” is a song by English rock band the Cure. It was released in the UK as a stand-alone single in June 1979, and was included as the title track on Boys Don’t Cry, the American equivalent to Three Imaginary Boys.

Here’s another great pick-up routine using both chords and lead……which can be played over and over again… although not too much so you start crying!

This is a great track to discipline the smooth changing from rhythm to lead without hesitation or thought i.e. it becomes natural.

The lead part is simple to play, but you will be using your pinkie to execute part of the melody line which, because of its distinctiveness, must be played flawlessly. The A, Bm, C#m and D (barred) chords will be used to kick the whole thing off, with a couple of hammer-ons and pull-offs added in to help you repeat the riff.

A great intro to a great song.
