Firstly there’s developing your ear training and secondly there’s familiarity with your target notes – to get you out of trouble! Sometimes when you get a bit carried away you’ll hit the wrong note – I mean a note note in the particular scale you’re soloing in. Now, the first thing is to recognise your error and the second this is to get you back on track.

Quick Tips

Remember: When you become really familiar with the sound of the notes in the scale you will immediately know when you’ve hit a bum note!
